First Baptist Church was first established in a wooden frame building in 1892. Through many years of change,  FBC has been a stable beacon of God’s Love. FBC has served the community as a valuable source of Biblical teaching and christian activities. 

Today the church includes the sanctuary, Family Life Center, and two parsonages. Staff includes a full time Youth and Family Pastor, an Administrative Assistant, and part-time Librarian and Nursery Workers. The Deacon body is composed of seven men who actively work to provide member and church support.

Each week the church has Sunday School, Sunday morning and evening services and Wednesday night services. In addition, there are weekly youth activities and Men’s Prayer and Bible Study. FBC has an active youth program, with elementary, junior high and high school activities. The church encourages and supports attendance of summer youth camps. The average morning worship attendance ranges from 60 to 80. The annual budget is approximately $400,000 to $450,000.

 First Baptist Church actively supports missions, both local and global. FBC contributes around $50,000 yearly to various mission efforts. Panfork Baptist Camp, the local Food Bank, the Ministerial Alliance, and the monthly Youth Praise events are supported by the church. Panfork Camp is in our county and its success is important to the church. Through the years the church has generously given support with time, money and prayer.

Not only does First Baptist Church seek to be active in organized missions, but the church strives to demonstrate God’s love to the local community. There are many unchurched families in the community. FBC desires to be the church that reaches out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and pulls them into the fellowship of believers. There are many needs in our community of the ill, elderly and homebound. Wellington has both a Care Center and an Assisted living Facility. There are endless opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
